ShIronbutterfly Ray, who is the executive director of the BareBones International Independent Film and Music Festivals, met McGill when he entered his screenplay in the film festival and traveled from Oregon to Muskogee to attend the event. ShIrons’ husband, Oscar, who was in production on the movie, ”Sacred Bloods: A Vampire Saga,” was encouraged to consider producing the screenplay ”Stairway to Heaven” after his wife realized he had a historical connection.

The story is slated to begin production in the spring of 2010. Other talent being considered for key roles in the film are Choctaw actor Ryan Merriman and Jane Seymour.

Schwan’s Home Service to the Rescue

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sons of American heroes got the break they deserve thanks to the generosity of Schwan’s Home Service, Inc., which contributed full sponsorship for the production of (www.sonsofthefallen.com.) The two-hour television special honors 25 boys, ranging in age from 7 to 17, who lost their fathers serving the United States.

Executives at Schwan’s Home Service learned of the show’s plight after being contacted by the show’s producers and immediately stepped up to help sponsor the TV program.

“When we first heard of this group, we knew it was something we wanted to be involved with,” said Schwan’s Home Service President Scott McNair. “We were honored to serve quality food to these sons of American heroes.”

Schwan’s Home Service provided food, production costs and an entire staff of food-line servers to the boys, as well as 22 mentors and more than 20 television crew members for the entire week of production.

The show follows the boys as they work together through daily camp challenges. Camp challenges include climbing the 14,000-foot Pikes Peak and riding in NASCAR-style race cars. Local volunteers joined in to help, along with volunteers from Texas and Arizona.

DVD Review: "Backwoods”

After setting up camp, Choctaw native Ryan Merriman ("Final Destination 3”), Haylie Duff ("Napoleon Dynamite”) and crew get concerned by their surroundings. After several scenes of bickering and a failed paintball match, the group realizes that skinned animals usually don’t hang themselves from trees and they should leave immediately. Things get gruesome when blood starts to spill instead of paint. Then a gang of inbred maniacs kidnaps the white-collar weekenders and throws them in cages.

DVD Review: Backwoods: Haylie Duff, Ryan Merriman, Danny Tucci, Marty Weiss: Movies & TV

I didn’t have high expectations for this movie. To my way of thinking, the world already has more than enough B-horror movies featuring a group of young people going out into the woods and being attacked by a bunch of dirty, disgusting backwoods cretins. To make matters worse, the characters in this film are all taking part in a corporate team-building retreat (not a reunion - the information in the editorial review is less than accurate), a practice I consider to be one of the most infernal ideas mankind has ever come up with. And wouldn’t you know it? These young video game company executives turn out to be among the most annoying people on the planet. Only two have any redeeming qualities whatsoever, the one dude who isn’t really in to all of the kissing up and debauched camaraderie (Ryan Merriman) and the hot girl who’s sort of uncomfortable with her jerk boss’s constant touchy-feely sessions with her (Haylie Duff).
