Ryan's role: Jon Abbate Links: Official website | Info Summary: In February, 2006, young Luke Abbate accepted a ride home from a fellow student following his high-school team practice. In a severe case of irresponsible and reckless teen-age driving, and over the objections of Luke and the other young passengers, the driver lost control of the car at nearly 90 miles-per-hour, spinning off a narrow road and landing in an embankment some seventy feet below. Luke suffered irreparable brain damage, and died in the hospital two days later - just four days before his sixteenth birthday. Ryan's role: Matt Morrison Links: Official website | Trailer | Info Summary: Home of the Giants this classic tale of friendship and basketball is seen through the eyes of Robert "Gar" Gartland (Haley Joel Osment), an aspiring journalist in his junior year of high school. Gar's story sweeps us away with the thrill and intensity of high school championship basketball. High school basketball in the small town of Marion is not simply another varsity sport, but rather a way of life for everyone. Sixteen-year old Gar, like everyone else in his hometown, is a fan who unquestioningly loves his hometown basketball team, the Giants. Gar's best friend Matt Morrison (Ryan Merriman), is the star of the team. Gar believes Matt can do no wrong. During the basketball season, Matt's older brother talks him into a plan to steal money supposedly buried in a drug dealer's backyard. Gar reluctantly agrees to go along with the plot. Their simple plan, however, goes badly awry. Throughout the story, Gar finds himself falling in love with Bridgette Bachman (Danielle Panabaker), a transfer student from California, who questions the celebrity status given to the basketball players in her new hometown. Her questions challenge much of what Gar believed about Matt, basketball, and life. From down-to-the-wire basketball games to being stalked by a dangerous villain, from blackmail to foiling a plot to throw the state championship, Gar emerges from his hero's shadow and gains maturity as he comes to a new understanding of himself.
